On wakingO Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. Amen.

Nothing here is invented. These are the prayers and rhythms the Church has kept for centuries, set down plainly — for the practicing, the returning, and the merely curious.
A day framed by prayer is the oldest Christian habit there is. Start with two — morning and night — and let the rest come.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary — and she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Behold the handmaid of the Lord — be it done unto me according to thy word. And the Word was made flesh — and dwelt among us. (A Hail Mary after each line.)
You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
Review the day in five minutes: gratitude, review, sorrow, forgiveness, resolve. Then: O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins… Amen.
O St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of Mary, keep watch over this house tonight, and guard those I love as you guarded the Child. Amen.
Why. The Rosary is not repetition for its own sake. The words are a quiet rhythm — like a heartbeat — that frees the mind to contemplate the life of Christ through the eyes of His mother. Twenty scenes, from the Annunciation to the Coronation: the whole Gospel, held in the hand. It is why St. Padre Pio called it "the weapon," and why it can be prayed while walking, waiting, or unable to sleep.

Formal prayers carry you when you have no words. But God also wants your own. Six movements — you can write the whole thing in six lines.

Begin with a name — Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Blessed Mother, St. Joseph. Prayer is not a wish; it is speech to a Person.

Name one concrete thing from today. Gratitude keeps prayer from becoming only a list of needs.

Say the fear, the anger, the doubt in ordinary words. The Psalms do exactly this — nothing is too raw.

One petition, said simply. Add "if it be your will" — the phrase that keeps a prayer from becoming a demand.

Ask a saint or the Blessed Mother to pray with you. You are never praying alone.

End with "Thy will be done" and "Amen" — a word that means: let it be so.
An example
Lord Jesus, thank you for the quiet of this room and for the people asleep in it. I am tired and I am afraid I am doing this badly. Give me enough courage for tomorrow only — if it be your will. Blessed Mother, ask this with me. Thy will be done. Amen.
You do not need to know anything to walk into a Sunday Mass. Arrive a few minutes early, sit toward the middle, and follow the people around you — standing, sitting, kneeling. Nobody is watching you.
Entrance procession, Sign of the Cross, greeting, Penitential Act ("I confess…"), Gloria, Opening Prayer.
What you do: Stand. You may simply listen. "And with your spirit" is the usual response to "The Lord be with you."
First Reading (usually Old Testament), Responsorial Psalm, Second Reading, Gospel Acclamation, Gospel, Homily, Creed, Prayers of the Faithful.
What you do: Sit for the readings; stand for the Gospel and trace a small cross on forehead, lips, and heart — mind, word, and heart.
Offertory, Holy Holy Holy, the Eucharistic Prayer, the Consecration, the Mystery of Faith, the Great Amen.
What you do: Stand, then kneel at the Consecration. This is the heart of the Mass — Catholics believe the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ.
Our Father, Sign of Peace, Lamb of God, Communion.
What you do: If you are not a Catholic in a state to receive, stay in your pew or come forward with arms crossed over your chest for a blessing. No one will mind — it's common and respectful.
Final prayer, blessing, dismissal: "Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life."
What you do: Stand. Most people pause briefly to pray or genuflect toward the tabernacle before leaving.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do… therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory…
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible… and in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages…
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us… grant us peace.
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
